With the AHV Neonatal Development Programme we aim to ensure a successful start for piglets. Starter performance of piglets is linked to gut health and development in early and later life. Energetic piglets stimulate the sow to produce more valuable colostrum. Therefore, it is imperative to give the piglets the additional care and attention they need during this period to ensure good piglet health and development.

Technology
The products in our Neonatal Development Programme contain oils and fats that are absorbed quickly and are used immediately for energy and to establish, a well-balanced gut microbiota. This results in active and energetic piglets with an increased resistance to unfavourable bacteria This will lead to a successful start of life, which affects health and growth performance of pigs later in life.
Animal health
Piglets are born deficient in energy but have very high energy requirements for physiological processes. Because energy reserves are limited in newborn piglets, they rely completely on colostrum and transient milk for energy. With the AHV ND Programme we give piglets a kickstart to ensure sufficient colostrum and therefore energy intake to maintain gastrointestinal integrity and stability.
Financial
Piglet vitality is important to ensure piglet survival and development. A healthy gut is one that contributes to achieving the piglet’s genetic potential. By improving the gut health pre-weaning, piglets will be less likely to experience the negative challenges associated with weaning and diet changes, thereby reducing extra costs and growth retardation.
